And yes, as you said, they have to be fun and a real break, not just a chance to catch up on chores. The only problem I've noticed is that you tend to run out of annual leave a bit faster than everyone else, and it's hard to take more than a solid 1 week break per year that way. Solution - talk to your work about lowering your pay a little and increasing your annual leave by a week or more.
