I've heard of ways that you can transmit a voice message from a phone to a person's email address. So in theory, you could use your phone to v-mail (voice-mail - is that a term?) yourself an idea or message that your hipster PDA can't handle as well.

Some mp3 players allow for audio recording through the microphone. Then you could u/l the mp3 to your computer and forward to your collection bucket. This could also be used when your hipster PDA is not as useful. For example exercising with the mp3 player would take a few seconds to make a voice note, while the PDA would require it to be in the same room, and you getting it, grabbing a pen, writing message, and returning the PDA to its spot.
